Tips for making your Thanksgiving healthier and eco-friendlier.
As you’re giving thanks for life’s many blessings this Thanksgiving, why not celebrate in true Native American fashion—paying respect to Mother Earth.
Below are a few simple ways for having a green Thanksgiving celebration this year and for years to come.
• Buy local. If you don’t have a farmer’s market available to you this time of year, Whole Foods has begun to show which of their produce is grown locally (even giving you stats on how far it has traveled).
• Buy organic & free-range. Buying organic is better for everyone—healthier for both you and the planet by keeping pesticides and other harmful chemicals out of our soil. Simply buying a free-range turkey is a tremendous eco step. Not only is free-range more humane, it also keeps you from ingesting hormone-injected meat.
• Getting ready for houseguests? Why not greet them with an eco-friendly, chemical-free home? Clean up with the best, most cost efficient eco cleaners on the market: Get Clean. And how about some refreshingly pure Get Clean water as well-- the only water purifier that eliminates lead, among other harmful contaminants.
• Recycle everything you can, and make your recycling bin clearly labeled and easily accessible for your guests.
